Looked at a JD 5403

Hello JD owners!...I stoped in and look at a JD 5403 FWD 75HP with a JD 522 "Farm Loader" front end loader , new zero hours. The guy said he would put me in it for 28,299. Im in Southern Mississippi, is that an ok price or can I do better?

I'm sorry I can't help you with the price, especially in your region.

But I have the 5403's little brother, the 5303, and I can say that it's a heck of a tractor. I would buy the same again in a heartbeat. You get a lot of iron for the money.

I personaly would get a hydro but in your case that price is pretty good in my opinion.

Thanks for the input Wombat & 3720. The JD even looks like one heck of a tractor. I have had the same FORD tractor for almost 30 years. Its old but still runs good. I looked at the New Hollands and they wanted the same price for a TT75A 4WD 75 HP, seems about like the JD I looked at today....But I must say, the JD looked nicer.

I got a 5403 2 years ago. Mine is 2WD but is a great tractor. I got a 6' shredder, box blade, 512 FEL and PHD with the tractor for about $27K. With your 4WD but without the attachments seems in the zone. But I haven't looked in the last 2 years so I can't be sure. I wouldn't trade mine for anything. There hasn't been anything it couldn't do. Good luck.

Mississippi, Not sure where you are located in south MS, but I ordered a 512 FEL this week and after shopping prices in all of South MS and one dealer in La, the local dealer had the best price. Check with Wayne at Southern Tractor in Hattiesburg. Seemed to know his stuff and most willing to work with me. Sounds like a good price for that size tractor and I have been impressed with my local dealers service.
