Long 360 hydraulic filter

New filter has rubber washer glued to one end. Does washer go toward front or back of try. Thanks

Take a look at your accessories. On some the washer goes against a flat plate on the engine....note observe a flat plate for gasket to which the gasket can seal. Then check the mounting parts to see if there is something to seal the far end of the center rod considering old oil enters the circumference of the filter housing and exits through the holes in the center rod as clean oil. You don't want old oil leaking past the outer end of the filter and getting into the clean oil, center section of the filter.

I don't have one but did have a Ford with such and that is the basis for my answer.
