Hello all new to the forum, I have a 360 long 3 cylinder diesel. I recently replaced the starter, now It doesn't run right. I really notice it above 1500 rpms it spit, sputters and backfires really bad. It actually gets better after it has warmed up. During the installation of the starter I had to remove a plug from injection pump right above the starter. My question is before I send it to the shop, does anyone know what the plug is for, possibly the fuel pressure regulator. None of my manuals even mention this plug.Thanks

Did you have any luck fixing your problem? I recently removed my starter on the same tractor to have it tested. Ended up ordering a new starter and haven't received it yet, but I removed that plug as well in order to get the starter off. Also had to move the fuel pump out of my way. What a mess!! I replaced that plug and the springs as best I could. I worry I will have the same trouble you did. I'm hoping you learned something that might help me when I go to mount the new starter back in place. Thanks in advance.

you might try to PM the original poster, but he was a 1 timer. so I doubt you get very far unless he had PM sets to email him. He has not posted except the one time on August 1st 2013
