Hi guys,
please excuse my misuse of terms that i'm sure follows. I'm not well versed in hydraulics speak

Anyway, I have a 3PT logsplitter that runs off my tractor. It has started leaking out the end of the hydraulic spool, and the leak is getting worse. Its now a constant drip.

I am having trouble taking the valve apart though, i've never disasembled one with a detent.

There is a circlip at the bottom end holding a round plate in place, I figured after removing this the spool would just slide out (like it does on my tractor controls) but it seems held in there by a spring?

Any tips on getting it appart, or anybody have an exploded view picture of a basic logsplitter valve?

Thanks

My splitter valve was hanging up, and the spool was being held pretty snug by a torn-up 0-ring. A close-up pic of yours might help decipher what needs to be done.

On some, the detent is a spring-loaded ball (like a roller bearing ball) that is behind a set screw. Might also be a spring on the spool that adjusts the relief pressure setting.
