All Experts fall in please; If you hook up a 22ton hydraulic log splitter (Speeco model with it's own handle and cylinder from Tractor supply), to the back of your tractor hydro. ports (single segment) on the 3 point hitch, with an open center system, and push or pull the remote control valve lever in the cockpit forward or reverse to move the fluid into the splitter by tying the lever so it won't detent, Will this cause problems with the hydraulic system/pump in your tractor i.e. heat the hydro-oil up and burn out the system?. The splitter is only activated here and there when you are splitting wood over a specific time frame. What do ya'll think? NICO getting ready to split wood in N/E Pa. endless mountains.

No problems, it's done all the time.

Thanks Kenyard!!! I thought so, I did it with my 3010 J.D. and everything was o.k. for 15 years. Can you think of any reason why a Kubota rep. says don't do it that way and get the 7040M I use retrofitted with hyro. hoses and couplings for the splitter much like the Bradco Back Hoe hydro. attachments for the 3 Pt. hitch? Old school NICO in PA. wondering what the youthful Kubota Rep. is getting at? Thanks all, great site.

I agree, no problem at all. Because it is an open center system, you are not building any pressure, just moving the fluid, which wont heat it up.

Your tractor hydraulic pump is running all the time anyway moving the fluid through the pump itself, loader control valve, etc and then just back to the tank. All you are doing is moving it in a different direction on top of where it is already going. But without building any pressure, it wont do any damage.

Thanks Guys; Thought so, but don't know why this guy says not to do it on my Kubota M7040. Who knows!!!! NICO watching the full moon over the PA/NY border.

I just bought a SpeeCo 3pt hitch splitter at my local TSC store eralier today.

I plan on running it through the WR Long electric valve kit Valve Kits that powers the cylinder on my Tatro bucket grapple, that sits on the bucket of my Kubota B7800.

Anybody see any problems in my plan?

Might be a little slow, but it will work fine.

If the ports and hose are the same, it should work fine. If the ports and or the hose are smaller, there might be some loss.

You can increase the cycle time if you install the fast action log splitter valve by Prince. The valve only works with a reg pump, and not a two stage pump.
