Farmall super c
I have a log spliter that runs off tractor hydraulics. i am wanting to build a pump set up to run off of the small shaft on the pto on my c farmall (if that makes any sence). what i am woundering is could i use a pump like on a log spliter with a gas engine on it. the smaller 2 stage pumps. i dont know a lot about any of this. i have a small john deere but the hydraulics on it are just not enough and i would like to be able to use the farmall for wood splitting anyways. any advise would be appreciated.

I re-read your question.

Two stage pumps are designed to run at usually a high rpm, and put out so many GPM, at low or high pressure. If you run one of those two stage pump at 540 rpm, you will not get many GPM's.

I don't know the HP on your tractor, but if it has about 25 PTO HP, then your best bet is to run one of the Prince PTO pumps like this.

Surplus Center - 3.6 CU IN PRINCE HC-PTO-8AC PTO PUMP 1000 RPM CI

This pump running at 540 rpm, will provide about 13.5 GPM's at 2000 psi.

This pump is expensive, and needs about 22.5 HP to run it..

Your local TSC might have a stand alone log splitter that may meet your demands, or find a used one on Craigslist, Ebay, or where ever.
