Guys, I store my tractor in a horse trailer, cause at the moment it's the only place I can get it out of the rain at - In order to do this, I have to raise my loader up, to make the tractor small enough to fit inside.

I'm concerned though because I've heard I need to have the loader on the ground and then relieve any pressure off of the cylindars.

What are your thoughts on this - Can I get by for a while or should I get the loader on the ground?

Thanks

It won't hurt it to leave the loader up.

I would make sure there is nothing under it to get crushed or damaged if it were to leak down

You will do absolutely no harm to your cylinders. As a matter of fact, you are actually doing more harm letting your FEL rest on the ground than if it were lifted. By keeping pressure in your cylinders, you are keeping the seals pressed against the rod and gland. With no pressure, the seals contract and then have to regain their shape when pressure is applied. Non-loaded seals may even leak with no weight on the FEL. Just make sure your cylinders don't drift and cause damage to the trailer.

Thats been my experience, but you are the 1st that Ive heard put it to words. I imagine the light load of an empty bucket is just about right.
