Loader Valve Hose Orientation?

Hi folks. I'm replacing the loader valve on my Kubota B1550. I've found valves at Northern Tool and at Surplus Center. I think the Brand valve with regeneration would be ideal.

Unfortunately the sales people at NT can't tell me the hose orientation. I need hoses up. They refer me to Brand who are closed until the new year.

The Brand website gives drawings of models showing different model numbers for the 4 possible hose orientations. Looks like I need model LV22TKRFSA3B (handle option A3). Nothing on google for this model.

Their site shows how to use the model number to decipher the valve. It appears the NT valve has hoses left (handle option A). Their other model without regeneration appears to be the same.

Surplus Center also has Cross valves but again I could not determine hose orientation. The Cross website did not help.

Seems weird. Don't buyers need this info before purchasing?

I see posts showing members have used the Brand valves from NT. Can anyone verify the hose orientation on either the Brand or Cross valves from NT or SC?

Great post! I too need to replace my loader valve on my 770 loader. Due too the fact sometimes when I try too raise the bucket(boom) slowly it falls, I think I am getting some leakby. It is also a 2 lever control and would like togo to a single lever.

I am not sure tho on what I need to know before the swap. Meaning hose orientation, mounting plate orientation or what?

Which ports concern you? The pressure and tank or the work ports?

I really don't understand the orientation thing. You mount the valve to suit your purpose, whether the ports are on the top or bottom, or whatever. Once you decide whether the handle is vertical or at some angle, You then use fittings and old or new hose to connect. Most any valve you look at you can see port orientation. Up lever usually lifts and down lever lowers, or push/pull.

If your tractor doses not have a mountable place, you build a bracket to support the valve.

The work ports are paired in a straight line with the handle(s). On joystick models, with the handle facing you, the ports on the left work with the handle going up and down. The ports on the right work with the handle going left and right.

With the joystick mounted with the ports facing up, the following is how they will work:
The port holes work backwards to the handle movement. If you pull the joystick back, you will be sending oil out of the left port farthest away from the handle. Push the joystick forward and oil will flow out of the port closest to the handle.

Push the joystick left and oil flows out of the port farthest from the handle and right will send oil out of the closest port to the handle.

If you mount the valve sideways or upside down, just remember how it works in the upright position and shift your hoses accordingly to get the movement you want. If it works backwards to what you want when you hook it up, just swap hoses at the ports until it works the way you want it to.

This is typical to most newer valves. There could be some out there that are different.

I may be confusing myself but here's what's in my head.

The two spools on the Brand valve are different and have special functions at the end of travel. One (main loader up/down) has float (with detent in that position), the other (bucket curl) has regeneration.

Flipping it 180 and swapping hose locations would cause a problem with float and regeneration being at the wrong ends of joystick travel. A 90 turn would reverse the joystick functions. Bucket curl on the north/south motion and your main loader up/down would be on east/west motion.

Is that about as clear as mud? :confused2:

I prefer not to alter my mounting plate which is horizontal.

The existing Kubota valve has work ports up and pressure/tank ports to the sides similar to the Brand valve so these are fine as long as I can go horizontal.

If your current valve has the ports up, then you should just have to put the lines back to the same port they came out of on the old valve. It will function the same and you now have the added float and regen capability that the old valve may not have had. The new valve will be a little longer and may or may not be wider. Check to see if it will fit and if the mount holes line up. If not, you will have to drill new holes in the mount plate or replace the plate altogether.
