For some reason my loader control valve is "hung" for lack of a better word. In operation today it would curl up, but when we went to curl down (dump) the piston would not plunge down all the way into the valve for a full dumping action. It would only go partially in. It would dump, but I only have about 20% of the action in that motion.

The nut that connects the handle to the spool plunger was loose, and I have had problems in the past with the little aluminum spacer / adapter piece on the bottom of the joystick, but nothing there appears to be the actual problem.

I thought it may be the position of the turnbuckles but it does not look as though any of that has shifted positions, and when I disconnect the one curl link, the joystick moves all the way over with no interference.

I am fairly convinced I have a problem down inside the valve body itself.

I have the manual, and it looks fairly straight forward, but thought I would ask for any insights from the folks here if they have any experience that may be relevant.

The bad part of it is that this is the time that I need this equipment working and I am very loathe to take this thing apart and have it apart for any length of time. (lawncare / landscaping business)

Also perhaps relevant is that I believe it is a prince brand valve.

Any thoughts, suggestions or input appreciated.

Make sure all quick disconnects are properly secured; remove each one and reinsert to make sure they are seated.

Thanks, I will try that to make sure, but would'nt my joystick still have full travel? It hits a "stop" and will not go any more.

The best I can figure is that I have picked up a burr or peice of trash in that spool.

Will do the disconnects tonight, sure be better to check and verify then do a bunch of work to find it was that /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It is amazing the strange problems that come up when the connectors aren't seated. (They may look and feel seated and not be.) If I have a hydraulic problem that is always the first thing that I check.

Well, I tried the disconnects first, but still no joy, the joystick would physically not move through full range of travel. (even with power off)

I played with adjusting links etc, and it just did not seem to be it. I finally pulled the fender cover off, figured I would get the part # off the valve for reference so I could tell the Hyd shop I was sending it too, looked on the bottom of the valve and the caps over that spool was hanging loose and sideways...... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif One bolt was gone, and the other was not far behind, the detent bearing was sitting in the gap between the end cap and the little spacer.....

Boy did I look like this guy for a while /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif glad I had the manual, unfortunately I was up at our property in the mulch pile (just where I want to work on Hydraulics) But after about 5 attempts at assembling something "upside down" and figuring out the proper order of assembly I got it all back together, new bolt, good dose of blue loctite, and everything works. The bolts on the loader lift spool were loose as well /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Well, that was it, pieces falling off my tractor, under a cover I never pull normally. The boss was definetely happy that I got my tractor fixed so now it is Her tractor again /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Probably just a fluke thing, but something I will check next service and clean up under that cover.

Glad you were able to fix it yourself and at low cost. I will be removing my cover and checking to make sure.
