Wayne, I think you're talking about a "toothbar" and if you use the search function with that word, you'll find a lot more than you want to read. Your tractor dealer should be able to get one for you, and in reading the forums, it appears that quite a number of our members have ordered theirs from Markham Welding and have been happy with them.

Thanks Bird I found out later what they were called. Also I am from Grapevine.Ran Payton-Wright Ford for many years until 1985. Coppell was not very big when I came there in 1961 but neither was Grapevine

Nor were any of these other "suburbs" when I came from Oklahoma to this area in 1956. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif In fact, some of these "cities", didn't even exist as incorporated towns. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yep, January '74. I'll probably always remember that because I flew to San Diego out of Love Field the day they were moving to DFW and knew I'd be coming back into the new airport. My flight back left San Diego around midnight, got back to Dallas before daylight, and there was a heavy fog. Now I don't know much about the flight patterns, but I've never been on an airplane that made so many turns. When we started descending, we'd bank left awhile, then right, then left, then right, back and forth, and I began to think our pilot wasn't going to be able to find that new airport.

Incidentally, one of my early beats on the police department was far north Dallas; lots of vacant fields, horse pastures, etc. and I could hardly believe the new road they started building across the north edge of my beat; just couldn't believe they'd ever need a road that wide. They call it LBJ Freeway (I-635).

I'm a firm believer in welded-on teeth versus toothbar. I've dug down nearly 3' to level a buildng site in really hard soil with this setup. If you do it right they'll be flush with the bucket edge and you can still clean your paved areas without digging in. See this thread.

Bird,

How about I-20 between Dallas and Fort Worth? I can remember when you could drive on it and see very few cars. Never thought that part of Dallas and Tarrant counties would grow that much.

I drove on that vacant LBJ Fwy the first week it was opened because I worked at TI. (Hasn't everyone in this area work at TI sometime in their lives? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif )

What I could not believe was that "lunatic" who went out into the cow pasture on the north side of that new freeway and built Doran Chevrolet. What was he thinkin' . . . /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
