This morning, before I let the chickens and guineas out for the day, I had a knock at the door. Strange for such an early hour, and my wife and i still in robes and slippers, I found a young man at the door, asking if we could pull his car out of the mud. He explained he was out there all night, and every time he got out of the car to walk up my neighbors drive, the dogs would scare him back to his car. At first light he must have seen my tractors , and came to my house. I love going out at first light to pull someone out of the mud, in the pouring rain, so I guess I have done my kindness for the day. That is the third pullout this winter, maybe I should hide my tractors behind the barn.
