Looking for wisdom on the possible pitfalls of using a light materials skid steer bucket on a compact tractor loader. We need to load a compost spreader and move chips that will take 3x the number of cycles with the stock bucket.

Running a Mahindra 3016 with skidsteer loader connect and considering a Berlon SLMB-60 light materials bucket which effectively triples my current bucket capacity and weighs in at about 480lb. Currently operating a 48"/300# grapple on the loader with loaded tires and a 730# disc harrow to counterbalance with no problems so far in moving logs and brush.

We're following standard operating and safety guidelines for heavy loads - eg low carry, perpendicular to slopes, etc. Wondering if there are any other safety or equipment damage risks that we haven't considered. Any assistance greatly appreciated!

Do it. No problems.

As long as you don't exceed the loader's capacity, you should be just fine using anything that will attach to it.

Here's a bit more info...
My previous tractor, a Grand L3240 with a 724 loader had the exact same bucket as my current tractor, a Grand L5740 with a 854 loader. The newer and larger loader will handle a lot more weight and I want a larger bucket. A full load of dirt with this loader and the "little" bucket on my stronger loader is a waste of time in my opinion. I just haven't had the extra bucks to replace it but I will someday.
As previously stated, if your tractor can handle the load, put the biggest bucket you can get on it.

Thanks fellas. Your help is much appreciated. Also wanted to pass along that Berlon sells and ships direct. In addition, the price they quoted me was $200 less than what I've seen this bucket for on sale. Would like to support a local retailer but I can't afford to absorb the $300 difference.
