Kubota L2800 man shift
I recently bought a L2800 man.shift 4x4 but the front end is a bit light. I bought the grill gard too. Any ideas on home made weights to avoid paying a dollar a pound at my dealer.
Thanks.

RailRoad track is pretty heavy.

If you have a FEL just throw some rocks in it! If not, I have seen some just use concrete to create the ballast they need.

Hope this is of some help

When I had my B6000 I tied anything heavy onto it with rope. A load of garden tractor wheel weights, storage heater blocks, weights from inside a washing machine, a few concrete blocks and a long chain.
I understand that you may want a slightly more pretty object for a weight. How about getting a load of odds and ends of lead melting them down and pouring it into the shape you want. Or a slightly less hot method pour concrete into a former.
Personally I would go for the easier tie or tape anything heavy to the front method, and you have a gaurd to tape it to /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Even easier and cheaper, give your fattest friend a beer and tell him to sit on the front /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Some members have used available containers and filled them with Sakrete, leaving metal bars or rods sticking out for mounting them. Sakrete usually costs less than $5 for an 80lb bag.

I made my grill guard into a bracket to hold universal suitcase weights. The weights pictured here are definitely not Kubota weights, but they work fine.

It would be cheaper to buy the stock weights vs. buying the beer for my fat friend. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

a friend of mine used an old barbell with steel weights. You can cut the bar to the length you need and use heavy U-bolts to attach to the grill guard, slide the steel weights on and use the collar to hold them on. You can usually buy these for pennies on the pound from people who bought weights to get in shape and decided it was to much like work /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. The weights usually come in 5,10,and 25 lbs. It is not very pretty to look at but it works and is very CHEAP.

BNW,

I have a Yanmar 1700 that was lacking in the front weight department as well. I have attached a picture of the front weight I made. All of the materials were free seeing as how I work for a mechanical contractor, but you could probably make pretty cheep if you visit your local metal scrap yard.

It is made out of 10x4x1/4 rectangular tubing. There were holes in the front "bumper" of the tractor that I used to mount it on. I welded one end up and filled with scrap metal and then filled all of the remaining voids with sand. When I got it packed as much as I could; I welded up the other end to make it one solid piece. Not exactly sure what it weighs, but it is enough...believe me. I broke my wifes scales weighing it, but I don't know why I was worried about it in the first place. Been over a year and she still doesn't know they are broken!

Yes I have a somewhat heavy cuz living in London, maybe she could come for a visit, except nobody will speak to her since she became a Muslim.
Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I know a guy that did the exact same thing only he bought new weights from Walmart. I think he said that they were 50 cents a pound.
