Howdy,
I'm in the middle of a motor rebuild on my TS1610F and I was curious if any of you have removed the so-called lifter inspection plugs pressed into the side of the Isuzu block, just above the cam followers. There are two of these plugs, one-each for two lifters, and they are about 2-1/2inch in dia. They're actually steel cup shaped plugs and according to the parts list there is another smaller plug under each of these. I would like to inspect the oil return area around the lifters to make sure they are clear, since I seem to have trouble with oil returning fast enough down the push rod tunnels and down into the crankcase and oil pan. (I suspect my problem is mostly blowby pressure but I want to make sure about clear oil drain since I'm in there this far.) Do I just stab 'me with a screw driver and pry 'em out, or??? Will I gain anything (achieve my goal of lifter inspection) by doing this? Thanks in advance,

Bill in CO
