TYM T264
Hey guys. Bought a TYM T264 and wanting to level some land in northern michigan. Its basically all sand, and not much overgrowth, just ferns that die off. Just wondering if this is to big of a task for that tractor with a box blade, and maybe even a piranha blade on the bucket. Never ran a tractor this small with a blade like that. Looking at basically very short and close rollers occasional hole thats maybe 18" deep. And would like to also prep for a driveway, in total probably rough level maybe .5-.75acres. I know it might be a timely process, but I also know what a professional wants to charge for it. 25HP, 4X4, loaded R14 tires. Thanks.

My guess, not knowing what your “Sandy soil“ consist of, but if it’s very loose friable sand, you may have trouble getting any sort of traction.

If the sand has some binder (clay and other particulate) you may not have too much trouble. It just depends on the actual soil.

Good point. I am no soil expert, but its not like beach sand. It does have some sort of binder to it, I should know this I did soil judging in FFA 25yrs ago, lol. So lets say traction isin't an issue, do you think its a doable project?

It all depends….
But half an acre or 3/4 of an acre isn’t all that much to deal with, and depending on your timeframe and time allotment, I don’t think it would be a problem.

But there’s a lot of smart people on TBN so they might have a better answer

I see no reason why it can’t be done. You will have to learn how to set the 3 point to allow box blade to cut some dirt and how to feather the control to keep from creating a wash board. Slow and patient will get the job done.

A box blade isn’t the easiest thing to make level smooth ground with unless it has wheels.

Very true, unknown is how level does the OP want the ground or just trying to fill some holes and wash outs, etc.

The biggest difference with the tractor size is the time involved to get it done. You are just going to take smaller bites than my T574.

Sandy loam around here. Moving soil isn't the problem. Getting it to stay put can be. We get over 50 inches of rain annually and runoff can be a PITA.
