Chop saws are dubious at best about being faster. A good blade in a good saw is fairly fast. Chop saws are also notoriously inaccurate, because the blade can and will walk with you. You also loose a large kerf. Add to that the noise and the dust. I have both...the band saw gets used 100 to 1 times...and I have a GOOD chopsaw too. A metal bladed chop saw, or a cold saw does cut faster than a band saw, but that is a great deal more money.
