Wow! That's great Doug, especially for a week you were on a cruise. I don't think I could have done that.

I went to a regular, 6 month, appointment with my heart doctor yesterday. By his scales, I was down 31 lb from the last time I saw him. He was very happy with my progress and asked me what I was eating. When I told him, he was astonished. This week I'm eating no breakfast, a celery snack for lunch only if needed, and 300 to 400 calories for dinner. Some would say I'm starving myself, but I know this is just what I have to do. So, I've reset my daily goal to 600 calories or less down from 800. Some days I will probably be closer to 500 calories. A bowl of peas, soup, or steamed veggies sure taste good about 6 pm.:) Is a big dill pickle considered an entree?:D

My doctor supervised diet is actually about 600 calories a day. Of course some days I do go over. I don't care much for his protein products so I stick to the grilled chicken, tuna or turkey breast. I try to season the chicken differently every know and then.

Well, I'm essentially a vegetarian lately. Three weeks ago, I smoked three racks of ribs. I ate 6 ribs with cooked cabbage and blackeyed peas. It took me three days to start losing again. Since then, I've eaten no meat whatsoever until yesterday. My wife made a meatloaf for the grandkids who were spending the night with us. She didn't use bread crumbs and only two eggs in the whole meatloaf. I cut a 2" x 3" piece and had that dry with vegetable soup. That's the first meat I've had since the ribs and I don't think that will harm me any. Tomorrow evening, we are going out to dinner with the in-laws. I'll have an 8 oz ribeye, salad, and a dry baked potato. That will be the only meal I eat tomorrow. So, those three servings of meat will be all I've had in three weeks. Everything else is a vegetable or fruit.

I love stir-fry. My wife bought me some fresh yellow squash at the store and I want to stir-fry it with onions in olive oil. I went to my calorie counting website I use for reference and looked up olive oil calories. One tsp is only 40 calories. That's great! Then I looked at the fat calories and was stunned. How do you have more calories from fat than there are calories in the oil? Sheesh! Check it out. . .

Can anyone tell that I'm really into this thread?:rolleyes:
Sorry. . . I needed this and now I'm having such great success that I've pretty much taken over Iplayfarmer's thread. If I become overbearing with my postings, please just ignore me. But, I've really appreciated having set my goals in front of the TBN crowd and that gives me real motivation to keep it up. I'm determined not to fail.

I didn't make my goal of 400 calories this week. I was afraid I'd make myself sick and probably averaged 600 calories per day. We went to a steakhouse to eat on Wednesday night and I was surprised that it made no difference (meaning no slowdown) in my weight loss. I had a salad, 6 oz filet mignon, and a dry baked potato with only salt and pepper. It was very tasty. Today, I weigh 227 lb. I'm down 7 lb for the week. Thrilled I am.:D

I see a lot of $$$$ for new clothes in your future. :):):)

Dudley, my closet is a chronicle of my weight gain. All I have to do is look on the hangers on the left side to find pants going as low as 38" waist. If those get loose, I'll gladly go shopping for some 36 inchers.:)

Scotty: Thanks for the good wishes. With any luck, I'll be down below 180 before I stop. I've got my eyes set on making 170. Frankly, if I make 180, I'll be thrilled beyond words, but my ultimate goal is 170 since my doctor told me that was my perfect weight.

So, I found my scale. I weighed last night and I'm up a few pounds. It shouldn't surprise me. I've been under a lot of stress a work lately with long hours, and my eating and exercise habits are suffering.

After Monday, the stress is significantly reduced. I should be back into a routine after that, and I can get back to improving my health.

As of today I am down 40 pounds for the year. About 55 over the past 8 months. I have been a little slack the past two weeks but got serious again this week and dropped 7 pounds. I am now at 286 the lowest I can remember in a long, long time.

I have decided to enter and throw a little weight around lol. I am 6'2" weigh 362# and would like to lose down to 275# I have never in my life been small. I dont have any health issues yet. I plan on walking a couple miles on the hills and portion control. I aplaud everyone for their results and I know the battle.

Welcome Randall (dex3361). I'm sure this group can help you along.

Uncle Doug: You continue to be an inspiration. Just consider this a cyber handshake and pat on the back. :)

I kinda struggled this week. I got my stomach acid level out of whack and it took me a couple of days to get it under control. We also went out of town to a funeral. Eating restaurant food in strange restaurants is a sure killer for me. The upshot is that I only lost 2 pounds. I'm back on my routine now and should have better results next week. I won't make 220 before the end of February, but I have lost 40 lb since the first of January. I want to be well under 200 by April 15th.
