5030 does make a good point about soil compaction, around crops that is a huge concern. Many here on TBN do not have to worry about that but it is one of the reasons I like Kubota. You can add weight if you need it but always reduce down to a lighter tractor.

I agree concerning Kubota. They are light for their HP.

In regards to compaction, he's driving around in his fields carrying 6K lbs of bales.

I think he would not have a bale on his 3pt if he was around his crops. There would be no point in having a bale on the 3pt While doing crop work.

May I suggest you talk with the tractor dealers and maybe their shop in your area. I have friend who has been in tractor business for his lifetime and he recommends filled and the dealership I bought JD from with FEL on filled tires with cast weights on them.

It is my understanding you do not fill front tries. Not sure the reason(s) now. I have been told a tire filled will give better traction as it helps the tire mold to the ground; yet have friend who has large tractor dealerships in NY state and he says do not fill the tires, add weight.

Have no idea if you can tell the difference between the two methods but believe at least in my area tractors used for pulling you will find the rear tires are filled.

My tires are filled with beet juice (Rim Guard). I read multiple post and came to the conclusion for what I was looking to do with loader work and the terrain, loaded tire would make sense especially since Kubota's are generally lighter per class.

Since I haven't had a tractor without loaded wheels, I can't compare the differences.

We always had loaded tires on our tractors, but now we do not.

I will never go back to loaded tires again. I just cannot see any measurable improvement with loaded tires compared to air, and it makes tires changes so much easier. We even have our own pump, and can fill the tires ourselves. Its just a waste of time in my opinion.

What do you do with your tractors, and what type of slopes do you work? Or is it flat where you are up there?

Amazing in over 60 years I don't recall a single 2 wd farm tractor with liquid in the front tires, and the majority had iron bolted or hanging on the front.

LOUNY
Sorry you are right
I must have been half asleep...this is not the post I even meant to be responding to.

My newbie experience.......Since 2009 I've had three Kubotas that work on fairly level ground.......moved gravel ...probably over 50 tons....moved lots of large native stone that a construction developer dumped on my place....plowing with a 12" single mold board plow...moving snow with the FEL and Rear Blade...mostly with R4 tires...........To me, ballast is the most important factor. Most hours are probably spent with the MMM.

and I have never noted the need to fill the tires for traction. I do use chains for snow/ice etc. I'd fill the rears if I thought that it was helpful at my place.

Cheers,
Mike
