Has anyone changed out the hydro pumps on a Lesco viper before? If so, how hard, and where is the best site to get the pumps? Dealer wants over $500 for pump alone. Just wondering if I should cut my losses and trade her in or spend alittle $. Just need one pump. Mower cuts great when running. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, it is straight forward. You need to disconnect all the belt and rods. drain the oil thru the pump you are going to replace. Take the hoses off at the oil box behind the seat and the filter. You must drop the whole rear end at the same time. If I remember correctly it is about 4 bolts per side. What is wrong with the pump? There is not much that could go wrong with the pump. I think they have rebuild kits. If you end up scrapping the mower I am looking for the right side drive box that the wheel mounts to and probably the pump. The person that fixed mine did not take the whole rear end down at the same time and they cracked the right side, so I had to take it apart and patch it but it still has a little leak.
