Duane,
First congrats on the BX, I got my
BX2200 early this spring and feel it was a smart purchase. Anyway it is hard to tell what is an average hole in your application but to answer the question on average of the 180+/- holes I have drilled I would have to say about 1 minute per hole.
The BX is easy to manouver into position, I take my time running the throttle about 1/2 to 3/4 open, drop the point to just engage the ground where I want the hole, engage the PTO and drop the auger a little at a time to keep it from screwing itself into the ground.
I am inclined to disagree with your dealer, I would rather spend the money for something I own, than on rent.
I have drilled in some pretty rocky area's that a couple holes took a little longer but by taking my time I have only sheared one bolt in all those holes.
I was drilling some post holes for a friend that had very thick turf and we had to start each hole, clean the turf off the end of the auger then finish the hole. The grass clogged the cutters and would not drill, if it had not been so wet I don't thind that would have been an issue. Those 10 holes probably took 20 minutes. Sure beats a shovel!/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif
