Make sure you find out if the gas is sweet or sour! A sour gas well is definitely not something you want as a neighbor, even if it's miles away.

I only have 29.67 acres. I don't beleive they would locate a gas well on my land it is all hillside. There are much better sites within a mile of me and they all ready have leases on large amount of propertys in my area. Landman told me who he had leased and I talked to a few of them to make shore he was not lying. everybody I talked to had signed with them.

InternationalMan,
I'm in the middle of the gas field in Steuben County. They did run some sensors for a seismic study across our property along the road. That's the only inconvenience we've had. In NY, once they hit gas, the state (DEC) decides which landowners get royalties. Of course there's some hard feelings from the guys just outside the area that's being paid! They seem to know what they're doing. I believe that all the wells have come in!

Where are you located, InternationalMan? There is also some seismic and leasing going on here--in Central PA. Going for the same formation as S. NY, 10,000+ ft. down.

There are lots of things to consider, but it sounds like with the amount of ground you own, and the slope, chances are they will not drill on your ground, but you can still share in royalties and leas payments.
