I acquired a logsplitter that mounts on my tractor from Tractor Supply. I keep having leaks where the hoses connect to the valve. I use thread paste with Teflon as advised and tighten well. The last time I let it dry for days before I used it and it still leaks. I cleaned the threads last time with an alcohol wipe to make sure it would seal well before I applied it. Any advice when I unscrew them yet again, clean them and re-attach?

Thank you,

I had the same issue with mine. I had to tighten them very very tight. I thought I was going to break the fitting but it finally stopped leaking.

If the threads are NPT, they deform to help make a seal. New hoses may be the answer if they have been taken apart a lot of times.

Thanks all. They were/are new hoses for the splitter. I was afraid to tighten any further. I will see if I can find the locktite.

Is one end of the hose fittings a swivel?

If not, the pulsing and expansion of the hose can loosen the hose connection.

Are they indeed NPT threads?? or are they o-ring boss fittings that need the o-ring replaced???
