This has come up before, but I'm now convinced it is a real and immediate threat to every new Kubota.

The problem is that the hydraulic cylinders on loaders and other implements get spraypainted with the cylinders full retracted - in theory. If they are painted with the cylinders NOT fully retracted, then the paint on the rod rubs/abraids the cylinder seal when it is fully retracted. Several people have reported premature cylinder leakage that has been traced back to this.

I now have two cylinders leaking for this reason, one on my loader, and one on my backhoe. Both trace back to overpaint.

New owners should check this carefully and scrape off any overpaint.

Any dealers reading??? You should make this part of your delivery prep.

I had/have a leaking loader cylinder not from paint overspray but from contamination (dust particle?) on the rod prior to chrome so little tiny bumps were under the chrome. It started leking in under 25 hours of use. It has taken the dealer about 4 months to get the part. Now every so often I examine the chrome rods everywhere for little pinhead dots.
