Go to emssales.net they sell the test kit. It has all the instructions in it. It is the same kit they use for official testing.

Thanks, I will check that out. What does all of this mean for the homeowner who owns an old house? What are their responsibilities in all of this? Can their home be sold?

The class I went to was put on by the EPA. They didn't go into the legal issues. I really would have liked some OSHA input as well. I do know that the buyer has a grace period to have testing, done at his expense. If it turn up positive , he can back out. A home owner can do any repairs he wants and not be covered under this current law. If I were one, I would at least take a look at some of the web sites to get some pointers on the basic points to prevent hurting himself and others. It may all be " communist propaganda", but what if it isn't?

I have a good use for lead paint chips. Scrape all the lead paint off off all the old houses, catch the hazmat in drums, then cram it down the throats of all the politicians and lawyers. I wonder which resource we'd run out of first? If there is any paint chips left over gather up the lead and make bullets.

I just checked out the EPA site and it is 10 days for the buyer and the EPA is involving the Realtors and in the selling contract there is a mandatory knowledge clause to be signed by the owner (seller) stating whether or not they know of lead in their homes. In this case, I would think what a homeowner does not know will not hurt them...unless the buyer wants to find out....

That is my take on what I read...

My home was built in 1975, has lead paint, Chinese drywall, black mold, no smoke detectors, aluminum wiring, and drinking water comes from a pond ... should I be concerned? :laughing:

Where are the millions of lead poison cases? As all of my ancestors sanded, scraped, and painted with lead paint, I have no idea how there were future loins from which I sprang. Seems like my family has been dying off younger now that our government has cleaned everything up. I want the good ole days of lead paint and DDT.
