LB1914 PTO DISENGAGING

Hello,
Has anyone else ever had a PTO that keeps disengaging by itself.
I am running a Rhino 60" finish mower. I have checked everything I can think of, is this something in the overrunning clutch, shift fork, or the gears? Any ideas? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I only have 20 hours on my LB1914 and the PTO has never disengaged on its own. However, I will say that the linkage on the engagement lever feels sloppy. It's hard to tell whether it has engaged or not. I don't know if this could be related to your problem. Does your lever pop back into neutral? Or is it something more serious.....

Yes, it pops back into neutral. There doesnt seem to be any one thing that causes it, just happens randomly.

How old of a unit is it and how many hours? Has it always done this or just started?

It is a 1997, 500 hours on it, and it just started doing it.
I have put a new pto shaft on the mower, spindles and blades are in good shape. If I run the mower sitting still with no load on it, the pto does not disengage. The pto pops into neutral when you start mowing. If I put just a little pressure on the pto lever by holding it with my hand, you can mow all day but that gets a little aggravating. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Sounds like the PTO shift fork on the inside of the tractor may be getting worn some.

I had an old Triumph (car) that required a little pressure on the gearshift lever to remain in top gear. I'm not recommending this, but I will say that the transmission lasted many thousands of miles with a bungee cord as part of the system. On the other hand, it's possible that too much pressure on the fork could lead to a catastrophic failure that is more trouble than it's worth.
