Has anyone seen a striper on a Kubota MMM?
I seen one on a simplicity riding mower but nothing else. Maybe something on the Three Point Hitch system might work as well.

Heres a picture of a Simplicitiy deck

Or theres this unit but it looks pretty cheap and would never hold up around my home

Anyone got any other good ideas? I just love the look of a striped lawn

Mayhem, I have had that thought as well. I think a 3pt hitch attachment would work well. I am not very handy working with metal, but I think that you could make a A-frame that would attach to the 3pt hitch, and have a roller, rubber flap, or chains hanging from the frame. When you lift the MMM, the striper would also lift.

Mine "stripes" without any attachment...just the 60" MMM and a mowing pattern that results in "back and forth".

See Bxtractors.info and go to the photos section. I built one as a rear frame mount for my Bx2230. It raises and lowers with the deck, and produces uniform striping.

I needed a lawn striper that was compatable with the bagger on my Kubota Bx 2230. I started with an Arnold universal striper (Craigslist or Ebay), and welded an angle iron to it. From there I used "L" brackets to attach the striper frame to 3/16" x 1.25" flat stock. Rectangular 1" x 2" stock was used to brace and stiffen the flat stock. I then mounted straight brackets to the tractor frame to accept the striper. Straight and "L" brackets are from Home Depot electrical department (by the superstrut stock). They come pre-drilled with 1/2" holes. I made some custom lift arms from 3/4" cold rolled steel and flat stock. These mimick the factory lift arms, however need to be longer than stock to raise and lower the striper.
FAQ's
1. Does the striper increase the overall length of the tractor?
No. The striper tucks neatly under the bagger.
2. Are the rollers sepparated so the outer roller can spin faster to avoid turf damage while turning?
Yes.
3. What gives the striper its weight?
The rollers are sand-filled.
4. Does the striper interfere with the bagger or interfere with the bagger stands?
No. The striper is designed to work with the bagger.
5. How does the striper mount to the tractor?
With four clevis pins. Two to the frame brackets, and two to the TPH lifts.
6. How much did it cost to build?
Around $100 including $25 for the Arnold universal striping kit (Craigslist or Ebay), angle iron, flat stock, cold rolled steel, brackets, bolts, clevis pins, and sand. I already had the 1" x 2" rectangular stock.

I discovered that on my Bx2230 with a 54" MMM, if you remove the rear gauge wheels, and turn the 5/8" axle-bolts to face inward you can mount a striper with very minimal effort. Use sealed ball bearings with 5/8" bore and 1 3/4" o.d.(EBAY). Tap the bearings into a 47" length of 2" o.d. tube (1/8" thick walls so the tube i.d. is 1 3/4"), and mount to the stock gauge wheel supports.
Otherwise, try my modified rear frame mount striper for use with a Kubota bagger. Search the photo section for "lawn striper" to see detailed construction pics.
Cheers

I've created a page to show pintodeluxe's description together with his photos.

Mayhem,
Look under the PHOTOS section and search Lawn striper. You will find my MMM mounted striper on a Bx2230. It uses sealed ball bearings, and works great. It raises and lowers with the deck, and is height adjustable using the factory gauge-wheel mounts.

Nice work! Do you raise your deck at the end of each pass? I maintain quite a few properties so Im constantly mowing and just leave the deck down for pretty much everything, up-down-over hills and around obsticals. Any reason it is so far back? I like your idea but I might tuck the rollers closer to the rear tires.

thanks

IC Smoke,

In answer to your question --- No, you don't have to raise the deck after each pass. Sharp turns with the roller down doesn't cause any problems. It functions just like a gauge wheel to keep the blades from scalping the lawn, but it has the added benefit of striping.
As far as the mounting location --- I have two stripers for my Bx2230. One is the deck-mounted roller which has very limited clearance between the rear tires and deck. This is really the only place to put a striper on the MMM on my model. The weight of the deck (200#) provides downward pressure to stripe the lawn.
The other version is a frame -mount model that attaches behind the tractor. It uses sand-filled rollers to create downward pressure. It is also in the picture section of TBN, just search for lawn striper or look at my photos.
Thanks for the reply.
