Tires Lawn Rollers and Tires

Does anybody have an opinion on what type of towable roller is best, i.e. steel or plastic?

I would like to buy one however it seems the steel ones would rust and the plastic ones flex too much.

Also, does anyone have the aftrermarket 4 ply tires? How do they compare with the 2 ply OEM tires?
Which ones do you have?
I have Turfs on mine now and was thinking of moving towards Ags, or 4 ply turfs.

Any experience fellow CC owners would share is appreciated.

I personally use a steel roller. We got it used and there is not much rust if any on it. I would think the plastic ones would do the job too.

I have the Ag tires on my Cub. They are the 2 ply Super Lugs by Carlisle. I have been really pleased with them. My yard is hilly and uneven so the extra traction helps. I would have like 4 ply but they weren't in my budget.

I purchased a new GT2554 last month with Ag tires on the back.
I plan on replacing the front turfs with AGs shortly.

I like the steel rollers better. I got the 24" X 48" steel one and yes it rusts some but I've had mine for about 4 or 5 years and it is still in good shape. I figure if it ever rusts through, I'll cut the end out and fill it with concrete. I've had to make some modifications to my roller as it was hitting the foller frame and causing problems. It seems like the plastic ones were not as big either.
