Check out this video. this guy seems like a goofball but he knows his stuff.. helped me out a lot. He has lots of good videos on small engine stuff!

How Do I Fix a Surging Engine Video (Lawn mowers, tillers, pressure washers etc.) - YouTube

I watched that one but for me it;s hard to fix something/carb when it's not the same carbuerator, thefore I watched this video and found it more helpful because it is exactly what I have>>>>>>> Nikki 2bbl Rebuild Part 1 - YouTube

Well I mowed my grass and weeds this afternoon, the mower did start right up but it went right into surge mode but after two hours of mowing and almost done it started to run smooth again, parked it in the garage and let it run for a few minutes and it ran nice, now if it will just stay that way........

No, for the past 3 years I've been using 87 octane from Irving gas station, but this mowing season at the start the mower started surging. It most likely could be a ethanol issue and since theres no carb adjustment on Briggs motors anymore, the newer carburetors are probably more susceptible to fuel problems, my 30 year old Briggs will run on any gas by just tweaking the jet screws.

never owned an echo, i have been blessed with good luck out of my stihl stuff

I bought this Echo brush/grass cutter two years ago, it sat or hung with last years gas in it plus a little Star tron in it, ;ast month at first start up it took 4 pulls and today it took 2 pulls, idles great no surging, yet. This Echo cutter has all the power I need, my only gripe is it's made for people 5'-8" - 6' tall, I'm 5-5 and have my harness choked up as far as it can go just so to be comfortable for me to use, be nice if the saw head could have a angle adjustment.

What a difference 2 hr makes, my mower was constantly surging for 2 annoying hrs then about the last 15 minutes it started running smooth again. I added a little more Mechanic in a Bottle and a little Marvel Mystery oil, so this tells me that the carburetor has some gunk in it, but where did it come from...........

Pretty much sounds like a clogged or partially clogged main jet.. Had that problem with one of my mowers, cleaned it out and worked great.. for a while, then it started surging again. took it apart again and re-cleaned that jet and haven't had that problem for a while. it got something in the fuel system that kept catching in that jet..

A couple wise azz stage builders made a pair for me 15 years ago at the ship yard out of some 4x4 blocks when I told them I needed some planking set down on some 6x6 blocks so I could weld a shell seam that was almost like a overhead seam, they got a laugh out it.

Yes I think that what it is to, I'm hoping that the stuff I put in will clean the carb so I can get back to doing what needs to be done.
