( Personally, I have never started a diesel tractor without a puff of smoke. )

In the message I was refering to.. the poster did not preface his remark of 'blowing' smoke with 'when starting'. he just stated that it 'blew smoke' .. etc.

In any case... Like I said. The diesels that I personally run... you can barely tell there is anything comming from the stack, starting or not.. Can't speak about others equipment.

Yesterday I was at a local farm and saw a NH tractor pull up and park. I almost fell over...it looks exactly like the FarmPro 8240 from behind. Rear Axle, Cab frame and glass, 3 Pt, Hydraulics, and remotes. I was in a hurry and didn't have time to go over and look in the cab, but it appeared to be identical. This coming week I have to go back over....I'm going to see if I can get a closer look.

Didn't get any pictures but I got a closer look TL-80 looks like a dead ringer. I would assume that Foton copied this tractor to build their 800 series tractors.

I have a Fiat/Hesston 65-56 that some of the parts look alot my Uncle's Long. I had to tell my dealer what was what last time I went to get pars. I went to our Large Case dealer to order parts. This was right after NH bought Case. He told me he had never seen and can't get gray market parts for a Fiat. When I told him Fiat bought Ford Tractors changed the name to NH then NH bought Case. He told me to hit the raod they could not help. I called the small NH/Kubota dealer that lost the NH to the large Case dealer. Thae parts guy that told me to leave just needed to put the model # in with a -.
Last time I was at the dealer I could alot of my tractor in new wrapers and blue pant. I still get picked on for having a Fiat.

Small world! I haven't been able to confirm my finding, but the two tractors look almost identical. When I was looking at tractors the Massey/Case dealer showed me a Case and said they were made in Turkey. I guess just about everyone makes Utility tractors....except the USA.

I would like, to hear about poeple which are doing 500+ hrs with their Foton or Europard/Year. Are there any farmers outside with a chinese one? The europard and the jinma also are for sale here, but the sucsess isn´t big. I never have seen a Foton, even not at the Hannover ag-fair (Agritechnica).I made some contact to a chinese tractor manufacturer, who was offering me a small 12hp diesel for less then 1800 bucks, fob shanghai and a walkbehind diesel for 1000. This pries arwe awfully cheap, compared to a (used)Kubota, Iseki, Hako, Gutbrod or Agria in Germany. But I´m afraid, that their quality is as low as the price is, and selling them here, where some people wanted such small machines as a toy, would give me some probs .
The asians are not big sellers here with their tractors. Agricultural Kubotas aren´t sold here. some Kiotis are offered at www.e-bay.de
Shibaura tried years ago.

Europard is a Foton brand They used to call the Euroleopard, but I guess they shortened it. The Kioti prices in Germany seem much higher than here, even more when you take into account that our dollar is so low to the Euro...

Yes, it is called Europard all over Europe. ZJ from Croatia told me, that some farmers there sold 2 of them, one only for parts.
I´m wondering about pricing of this tractors in US. I would have thought, that they are expensiver there, cause of the better sales of this tractors (market rules). But that is not new for us here. A midpriced lawn mowing tractor will cost you 2000$+.
Why are they lowr priced in the States?Too much brands, which wanted marketshare?
If I´m looking around this forum, I would say:Yes, it´s possible.
But if I want to enter a new market, I have to to it with low prices, to get some customers.
Otherwise, not a lot people without any business do have really the need for a tractor. And if, they buy small, used farm tractors between 15-25 hp or walkbehinds with trailers.
I think, what for You the compacts mean, mean the walkbehinds for us.

Now have 13 hours on the tractor. Have used the tractor twice to plow snow. I was interested in seeing how well the 4WD system worked because I hadn't had the opportunity this fall. I have a long stretch of fairly steep pitched paved drive down to the public road. It was slippery enough that without 4wd the tractor was slipping quite a bit. When I engaged 4WD from a dead stop and started up the hill both front wheels were driving and obviously slipping until they started to gain traction. Going up the hill the tractor was still occassionally slipping so I engaged the differential lock. The result was no more slipping. Up the remainder of the grade with ease.

Finally....it was 22 degrees during the second storm and I ran the heater on low fan. I was in the tractor for about 1 hour and was in a summer t-shirt. Yes the heater works just fine.

Reading a lot about Chinese tractors making inroads in the market. Just thought it was time for an update. 30 hours of mostly plowing snow on my 8240. Fortunately the winter in NH is losing it's grip. Soon it'll be time to put the wood winch on and go into the woods . Couldn't be happier with my decision to buy the Farm Pro. Now that I've become accustom to the speeds I'm down to 3 forward gears for basic plowing. The 4WD system in the tractor is great. Even on steep slippery grades the machine barely slips. Push the heel differential lock and she climbs like a bear. After 30 hours the engine oil is hardly discolored and the 80hp turbo fires right up. I have noticed that more dealers are selling the 70 & 80 Horsepower Fotons/Farm Pro's. I guess the machines are here to stay. Good for tractor buyers everywhere......

went up to Wooster OH, to checkout an 8240 seems like a lot of machine for little money, $17,999.00 we were impressed. seems to me that the large chineese tractor is going to get alot more attention here in the US..

It is a lot of tractor for little money. The quality of workmanship is very good. Right down to the electrical system which uses the same components as the automobile industry. I have a few minor gripes, but mostly personal preference.

Just a note... the Chinese "Perkins" engines may not be true licensed Perkins. Perkins' former joint venture partner, Perkins (Tainjin) or PETL, is not a "true" Perkins and contains components not approved by Perkins. They will not honor the warranties on these, and are moving forward with legal action.
