Landscaping with a tractor?

/ Landscaping with a tractor? #21
I have heavily clay and added an extensive French drain system in my yard. I was aware the clay could clog the fabric overtime. I installed drain fabric in the trench, then installed easy flow pipe and back filled with mortar sand, not rocks. I also put sand on top of the drain fabric before putting new sod down. I got the mortar sand idea from online research. It supposedly will do a better job filtering the clay and extend the life of the easy flow pipe fabric, which is perforated pipe with foam peanuts inside A sock. It is working great and has dried out my yard. That easy flow pipe will move some water. Mortar sand has larger particles than beach sand. The water easily flows right though it. Good luck

I guess you just have to learn to live in a "controlled environment". Around here I construct ditches with my steeply angled rear blade - fill the ditch with heavy gravel - cover with dirt and grade smooth. This has worked for more than twelve years - keeps my once wet spot - dry.
