Does anyone have any photos of a Lienbach landscape rake with the Lienbach optional gauge wheels or a Howse landscape rake with the Howse optional gauge wheels? I haven't seen either of these with gauge wheels. Also KingKutter. Looking for an affordable landscape rake of reasonable quality is driving me nuts! Woods LR72 6' are starting at $750 (I really don't like the gauge wheels on it) and Landpride LR72 is at $900 for a 6' rake with gauge wheels. I'm just looking for some alternatives.

thanks,
Mike

I just bought a Leinbach 6' rake with guage wheels (wheels had to be ordered and don't actually have them yet). A little hardware store not far from me had a $379 price on the rake and list on the wheels was $225. Since I ordered them at the same time, the owner gave me 5% off on the set. Unfortunately, I can't post a picture till the wheels arrive, but I expect it will look just like the one in the previous post.

I am pleased with the quality. The rake seems to be very sturdily built, with replaceable tines, in case I ever break one /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif.

Mike, a nearby business just received a shipment of LEINBACH rakes and blades, along with UNITED box scrapers. All of these rakes have the solid laminated wheels on them. You can see 'em here.

Mike, Here is a photo of my Howse rake with the wheel set-up that I made for it. The one in the center is to move it around with. Having wheels make a big difference when trying to smooth out an area. My total cost to make the wheel set-up is about $30.00, as most is scrap that I had laying around.

Since I've never used one I'm curious about these rakes. I've read threads about pros and cons for grading gravel roads, but how are they for actually racking sticks and small brush and leaves?

I've got about an acre that's mature trees around some former fence rows, so there's always twigs laying around and in the fall tons of leaves to rake. I currently mow the best I can with my brush hog just so I don't have to pick up the small sticks. Will the rake clean it well enough that I can use my riding mower?

Of course, since I use a box blade to maintain my 800 ft drive, I would at least be able to settle this rake vs. box blade issue for myself /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif, but if I do prefer the box blade, will I still benefit from the rack?

I've seen 72" King Kutters for around $400 and I'm trying to justify the cost to own more toys.

I bought my International (Agritech) 6' rear blade from Dick Batchelder Sales. Real good to deal with and prices are right.

That's exactly what I bought my Lineback 6' rake for. One side of my property is bordered by mature trees and every spring there's quite a lot of down twigs and small branches. I drop the rake so it barely scrapes the ground and rake these things up quite nicely in just a couple of passes. I really could use some guage wheels, though because the rake hangs quite a way back behind the tractor so it is very sensitive to ups-and-downs in the terrain - missing some places and scraping too much in others.

Not a picture of Leinbach or Howse, but here is a First Choice in John Deere green. They are available in 6', 7', and 8', with and without guage wheels and in choice of colors.

In Henderson, TX at Bea Rice Equipment, a Leinbach (I think) 6ft landscape rake is $295. I don't know how much extra gauge wheels are. They manufacture much of their own equipment, including rotary cutters. Example: 10 ft. medium duty cutter, $2250. I will probably buy one next year.

Mike in Ct,
I have a 6' Leinbach for sale in the TBN classifieds. It includes the Leinbach wheels.

Will,
I've tried to e-mail you about your rake, but haven't got any response. I'm not sure if you're getting the e-mail.

I curious how much does a 84 inch rake with gauge wheels list for? Or better yet what is the bottom line delivered to DE. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Also I tried your the link to your site from another post and it was a dead link. Have you moved your site? I'm interested in your product line and also what price range it's in.

I have been pricing rakes and am thinking of buying the Woods LR72 for my JD 4310. Has anyone had a bad experience with Woods rakes? Does Woods make good implements? Thanks in advance for the info.

Hi John...

I bought a Frontier 1172 6' landscape rake. These are made by Woods. I bought this because they looked awfully durable and rugged. I got the one with the grader blade. See attachment.

Here's another picture of the LR1172 with grader blade folded down. I'm very pleased with this rake's performance.

I like the idea of a fold down blade, and must admit it's an option we currently do not offer. Is this a mistake? Or do most folks use a rear blade or box scraper for grading rather than loading up a rake with options?

I concurr with Jim, I also like the fold down blade idea. However on the LR1172 the vertical swing down mounts appear to be sort of weak. Could be trouble brewing, if you are swinging in tight arc, with a bunch of material against one of those end plates.

A few improvements I'd like to see would be tilt adjustment and a higher moldboard with removeable end plates.

With these improvements I think someone could make a practicle single implement that could replace two seperate current implements ( Rake & Backblade ). Hint! Hint!
