There seems to be a lack of policy consistency in the way threads and or inappropriate or unsuitable posts in some threads are treated...
...Sometimes offending or posts that cross a line are purged and the thread continues to be open...other times threads are locked and the offending posts are removed or the thread is moved to a restricted space (without public notice).
...And sometimes threads are simply locked and remain public with no posts removed or no notices given...It may seem to some that the powers that be (mods etc.) are playing politics (with politics)...:D

IMO...Policy not politics should dictate how inappropriate post/threads are handled...Even if a certain amount of judgement is left up to individual moderators etc...they should stick to basic policy guidelines and treat similar things in a similar fashion...if a post is offensive enough to lock a thread why not remove the offensive post(s) and move on?

It is a privately held site with largely volunteer moderation. It is run at the discretion of those in charge, like it or not. In almost 20 years I have been on just about every side of any kind of disagreement or conflict imaginable here. We choose to participate or move on. I am fine with that. Your comments may be spot on and have merit. My response is so what?

It may be privately owned but it resides on the most public place on the planet...This is a "FEEDBACK" forum my comments were not open to question...
If you don't get it...you just don't get it...

I think the moderators do a good job considering they have to oversee a bunch of school kids.

Agree.
Plus, being a world wide forum, politics vary as much as the timezones and climates.
Moderators timing comes into play also. The more lenient ones might not be "on duty" or, the hardnosed one might not. Either way, I think they do a decent job of staying out of the way and letting discussion run it's course.

I am a moderator on another forum and it can be a challenge to reign things in sometimes. I suspect the mods read each situation individually, and make a judgement call on how to handle it in the fairest manner. They have a little more perspective/experience on how to best handle things.

I think they do a pretty good job. Some people just have their shorts on a little too tight :)

Some of you obviously have poor reading comprehensive skills...citing a lack of consistency is by no means a criticism of the mods...in fact I have often stated how well they perform on TBN ...IMO, the suggestion of consistency would only make their actions easier with less personal judgments required.
