I purchased a Quick Hitch Snow Plow Frame w/72" blade. The instructions show when attaching the sub frame they have the blade disconnected, not sure if this is just for the first time or if you must always drop the blade then remove the frame. Anyone have a set up like this, if so how do you disconnect/connect? This is a different set up than I have on my older L4200. This subframe connects to the draw bar and has four pins that support it. Thanks For any input.

I had a factory sub-frame mounted snow plow;L3130 so similar to yours.
I think the only advantage to dropping the plow is the sub-frame would be a little more maneuverable.A solid level base to store the sub-frame is a big help.

I had a smaller setup for the 2410. Mounting the subframe and plow was a pain, much harder to move so that everything could be aligned. First hooking up the subframe was much quicker and than I could drive into the plow.

I think it's the same sub frame as my snow blower uses. The directions had you use the hydraulic cylinder and a small drop down stand in the middle. I do remove my snow blower because I put it on in the fall and take it off in the spring and it's easier to store as two units.

How I do it (and I don't know why you couldn't do it attached is I lay it out on the floor and drive the tractor over it. I then use a floor jack to raise the back into position, slide the draw bar back into place then use the jack to raise the front. I find it's pretty easy as long as I block the rear of the frame up so I can get the jack under it easily.

The way I connect the snow blower to the frame is with two ratchet straps. One on each end of the blower connected to the fel mount and I ratchet one a little then the other so it pulls it tightly onto the sub frame.

Crazyal, I think we have the same type of hitch set up. I do have a drop down stand also. The older Kubota I have L4200 has a plow on it, and the frame and plow drop as one, It takes less than 5 mins to hook up and go, including quick disconnects. This newer type is heavier and stronger but also seems to take longer to hook up. I dropped the plow today and then lowered the sub frame by it's self. It sure makes it easy to store in two pieces. I reread the directions to remove the set up,and they want the plow removed before removing the frame. I almost want to leave the frame on all winter, but the ground clearance is lost in the woods, but I will gain some protection underneath. Thanks for your help. Ken

I hardly ever remove just my blade. I almost always remove blade and sub-frame together. I normally try to put 4x4's under the front of the frame so it does not sink in the mud. Are you sure it is a 72" blade? Mine is 7'. Philip.

My Mistake the L4200 has a 72" the L4740 has a 84". I order the wider blade on this tractor. The L4200 72" does a great job, but when angled and making a tight turn, it just isn't wide enough. I haven't used the L4740 yet, I have a long road up hill, blacktop with evergreens on both sides, not much room to push snow, after a few big snow falls I have to put the rear mounted blower on.

My L3940 with 7' front blade, 1200# rear ballast box, and turf tires do a really good job for me in the snow. Philip.
