Regen is a fast bucket dump, that comes standard on some valves.

No, you may not need regen/fast dump at all.

You should however match up the tractor GPM with the pump GPM of the valve.

You could also use a 3rd function valve for the grapple using a thumb switch to control the grapple, and that small 10 GPM joystick valve .

That 25 GPM valve is way over kill.

What would the downside to the bigger valve be? The 3rd function setups with the thumb switch are really expensive. I thought this would be a good way to kill 2 birds with one stone.

I see, yes, I guess I'd be better with a valve rated for 10ish gpm. The one posted is meant to be mounted vertically. It'll make things a little tricky. Well, hopefully I can get mine working anyhow.

The general thing about size is 25 gpm is nominally suited to 3/4" hose and fittings, 14 gpm is happy with 1/2" hose and fittings, 8 works ok with 3/8" etc., etc. That's the rough first cut - but it can all go out the window whenever it suits a manufacturer to do otherwise - like some tractors with serious pumps get outfitted with a cab and poof, the joystick and quick connectors have no place to live except under the step, so they use 3/8" plumbing. Oh, well, another good engineering theory trashed by market forces. Unless you use your tractor flat out all day every day, you will likely never really notice a size mismatch in the hydraulic plumbing. The exception might be if you run a big splitter off the third PB valve in a web.

So, it'd be ok to use the big valve?

Don't let anyone talk you into mis-matched valve.

If it is a money thing, do what you have to.

The L4610 tractor has a 9.6 gpm pump - and probably has mostly 1/2" plumbing. That's not large flow. A 3/4" valve will work fine, as would 1/2". You might notice some flow noise through a 3/8" valve at high engine rpm, but except for fluid heating over extended operation, even that would work.

A complete engineering treatment of hydraulic system flow, fitting size, power consumption, line loss, fluid heat up, branch flow balance, performance effect, etc. is way past the situation of 98% of homeowner/landowners with CUT's. Most of our hydraulics operate in the bottom 25% of their capability, doing one or two things at a time, where system balance simply doesn't matter much.

A friend has a very nice Caterpillar excavator that can do many things at once. It has completely automatic variable hydraulic supply and is a marvel to work with. System balance counts there.

Do you guys know what fittings I will need to connect a pressure gauge on the in fitting of the valve? I want to check the pressures and see I that will shine any light on a solution.

Also, if I were to say that the bucket seems to lower very slowly. Does that make the problem easier to explain. What if all of the functions are working slowly? I haven't had a chance to check anything lately, but I do think it goes down just as slow as the float function. It should lower more quickly while under hydraulic power.

The backhoe that is attached to he pb port seems to work mostly correctly. Function to crowd in the dipper stick kinda hesitates a little. Sorta like it has to build up pressure in the cylinder. But I suspect that the inline filter for the backhoe may be restricted. I have to get it apart to clean it.
