Tractor
Kubota L4400
Well my tractor has been at the the dealership one week today.I just recieved a call from the mechanic informing me that all my parts were there, minus the housings. He said the housings are having to be made in Japan and we were looking at two more weeks.I asked if he had figured out what had happened and he felt like it was probably the bearing that busted and the gear pulled one of the balls between it and the housing. As soon as I get more info I'll pass it on.

Thanks for the update. Here is hoping that you get it back soon!
Bob
PS get the cost of the repair as if you did not have a warranty.

Thanks for the update. You may not be able to get a better explanation, but I'd sure like to know why a bearing busted. I guess I'm more interested in what started the chain of events that lead to such an extreme failure. But we may never know.

George,I know what you mean I think I will go to the dealer and have a look for myself when I work off of graveyards.I ain't done anything but sleep this week,it should be against the law to have to work all night.I would like to see it while it's tore down anyway.I deal with bearings, gears and such on a daily bases at a papermill anyway so maybe I can drive down and take a look for myself. My mechanic is a young fellow maybe early twenty's. I might can see something that he did'nt.

Well I picked my tractor up thursday and every thing seems to be in good order,It was ready a week earlier but when I made the 35 mile trip to pick it up it was leaking oil and had to be torn down agian. The mechanic said it would have cost me around $4000 had it not been under warranty. I have put 4 hours on it bushhogging and breaking my arena and sounds alot smoother than it did before the housing busted.(must have been a bad bearing)

Glad to hear everything worked out. Wow! Four grand. That is nearly 1/4 the price of the tractor!

I'm sure it was a freak thing but it sure does make me worry about my own L4400. Its a fairly new model so any strange defects might just be emerging. On the other hand, there is nothing so new about this model in terms of design. So hopefully no hidden flaws. Couldn't be happier with mine right now and its been worked hard. Here's to many years of trouble free use for both of us.

Thanks George,I don't think you'll have anything to worry about. It shure does sound alot smoother this go around, must have been a defective bearing from the factory.I still think we made a good choice and hopefully we'll get years of trouble free service out of our tractors.Only thing I wished I had different is a cab with A.C. this South Arkansas sun is hot.

Wow, 4K  !!! I think it was just a freak accident, never to happen again. Enjoy the machine.
