Thanks for your input, I should have been a bit more descriptive. Just a couple of things.

1) I should have stated that the 3pt has this "lag" throughout the whole range of use not just from the lowest point. I checked out a new Grand L and it responded quick to slight lever movements and only moved up about a 1/4 of an inch at a time. Mine mooves 1 in to 1.5 in at a time.

2) I was a ware of the "float" on 3pt. My comment on the fact that I could lift the arms by hand was just to let everyone know that there is no binding that would hamper the operation. Thanks again.

So every time that you move the lever, the lift doesn't move for a few seconds no matter the position?

ttown66,

Can you post more about where you put the shim and the shim dimensions? Thanks!

Oh, any fear of snapping off the guage in use?

John - the info on shim size and placement is in this post of ttowne's from yesterday: #852979 - 03/27/06 10:52 PM.

Just click on the link to the jpg file.

The shims I used were a bit smaller than .5 diameter. Loader works better (doesnt give up as easy as before). A repair manual has been ordered and I am now going after the 3pt issue. I'll have to take off the rear hydraulic block to get at the position control valve and look for some contamination/blockage or adjustment. I will get it figured out and I'll post the procedure when done.

Well, to whoever is still interseted, I took apart the hydraulic block today and looked things over. Couldnt figure out what direction to go because I don't have the manual yet. I need to learn more from someone who really knows this stuff. I believe either the check valve or unloading springs need to be a lighter rate to smooth the flow.

More food for thought here.

Sorry for the long delay. Yes, that is correct, no matter what position the 3pt is the next time you go to lift further it takes a lot of lever movement ant then travels too far. I now have the manual and understand the principals of operation but still have not figured this out. Guys at Kubota said it could be several issues and suggested a trip to dealer but every dealer I called had techs that did not know anymore than I do. In fact most know much less and one gave a rediculous answer of using the drop adjuster. I told him that was just for dropping speed but he said it works both ways. Ya right, BYE BYE /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. I can certainly live with it this way but I'd sure like it to be more sensitive. Oh well I'll either try some different things or forget about it.

Tom,
It sounds to me like you may have air getting to the suction part of the system somewhere. Use a wrench to check to see if all of the fittings are tight. Also check to see if any hydraulic assemblies are not tight where bolts go through to hold them down.
