We are looking at a L3400 standard shift with a FEL as an auxillary tractor for our farm. We need a tractor to save this old man's back when cleaning manure out of the cattle barn, taking hay out to the cattle, moving equipment, doing fire woood, and light plowing, etc.

Has anyone else used this size (30hp range) Kubota for working farm applications and is it a practical size tractor?

The main thing for us is that for the investment we need a do-all piece of equipment rather than a skid loader, etc.

Thanks.

I suspect you have a typo in your post. The subject says "L4300" but the message says "L3400", 2 different models.

Gunpag - Yes the L3400 will suite your needs just fine. You will have no trouble accomplishing those tasks with it.

Yes, I did make a typo.....supposed to be L3400 in title block.

Thanks for the input. Needed to get some independent advice.

According to the salesman this tractor can do anything a regular 30hp farm tractor can do.

It will do anything a 30 Hp can do BUT you may find it a little light... Just add weight, everything will be fine /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif. KennyV.

Yes, I purchased an L3400 last July, mainly for farm use. I'm very pleased with it. It's a little light (as expected), but it made a great utility tractor. I've mowed with both a 5' and 6' brush cutter (some heavy brush too), raked hay, plowed with a 2 bottom 14" plow, rototilled, pulled logs out of the woods, set fence posts with a 12" auger, and many other farm chores. I'm very happy with this tractor.

I have a L3000dt which is the previous version of the L3400. i have been happy with it's ability.
I used to use a Ford 3600 and will say the L3000dt with FEL will alot of things that the 3600 wouldnt.
But the original mistitle of L4300 is what i almost bought and probably should have. if i was doing it again i would go with the L4300 dt.

And be sure whatever you do get the fwd ( dt) version. you will not regret it!

Just remember how light the L3400 and L4300 are. We looked at them but they don't weigh nearly as much as the L30's.

I don't think the L3400 will move a rounder on a spear either in case you need to unstack for feeding.

They would make decent raking or tedding tractors except for the rough ride.
