Did this very same thing to my Deere when I bought it and before I put it to work. Deere wanted $140 bucks for one that covers about the top 8'' of the Hood guard...useless IMHO, so I built one myself...Grilles and batteries are a lot more expensive than a little expanded metal. Looks good birdman!

Very clean work!!! Looks factory made. Isn't painting expanded metal a PAIN!!!! ;)

I built sides on mine as well so nothing could slip past. All manufacturers should offer something similar as an option at least for loader tractors.

I took the grill guard off on my Kubota L4400 and took it to a welding shop in Danville. They charged me $35.00 and supplied the heavy expanded metal. The results were excellant and even the underside was covered. I did have to supply one can of Kubota spray paint. The $35.00 price covered the paint job also.

No worries. Don't wanna take away from the OP's ideas. I modified and strengthened the factory grill guard, using the same hinge points and latch.

Hopefully these pics will just add more to the imagination Took these today.

thanks, I think i remember seeing those pics somewhere in my searching.
I'm also using the stocker as a base ,I wont need the tilt function but i do want it to wrap around somewhat.
I will also be "meshing" the back of my grapple.

My Brother bought a 12" tree shear. It has a strong mesh panel that protects the tractor or skidsteer from limbs.

I had to keep the tilt to get my hood opened. I added some bracing and blocks for the guard to push against so the small latch pin didn't have to hold that load. I pile a lot of brush with my Grapple and am certain my guard has protected me from a LOT of tractor damage. I still get small scratches on the front of my hood and lights from small twigs getting thru the mesh.
