Yep, what seems like common sense to some may be totally the opposite for some people I guess. Sometimes it amazes how different people think about things.

Forget the big bucket and wheel weights in my opinion. The big bucket will make it harder to move around and get in and out of places. Then the wheel weights won't be necessary but filled tires are still a must with loader work (add rear ballast to the 3PH if needed).

The heavier bucket w/load will put more strain on your tractor and the very heavy rear tires with wheel weights will do the same. If you get in soft ground you'll be up to the floorboards in no time.

I'm still trying to visualize your needs as related to an RV park and surrounding acreage. The Grand L looks to be the right fit. There won't be a "trade up" thought because you'll already be there. There is nothing worse than "tractor envy" (well :D).

If you are grading and/or using a rear snowplow regularly the T & T will make your life a joy. Repeatedly getting on and off the tractor sounds fine now but eventually you'll get to the "close enough" or "settle" point and the implement will not do its job correctly. With a T & T you can make adjustments on the fly and readjust as necessary. That screw-type top link needs a lot of adjusting - even just for hooking up an implement.

$30K is a hefty budget. As others have said, invest in the tractor and scrounge for the implements. However, you will be surprised how well implements hold their value if well-maintained so there won't be many great deals out there on quality.

The same applies to something you buy, use, and decide to sell when its usefulness is done. Implements depreciate very little if they look good.

Hey guys,

Still searching around for both new and used, and the question of the day today is deciding between a new L3540 equipped like this:
- Rear Work Light Kit
- 3 Sets of Rear Wheel Weights
- Deluxe Fiberglass Canopy with Front Work Lights
- LA724 Front Loader
- Quick Coupler for Loader
- 72" Two Lever QA Bucket
Retail is $29,119.00 on Kubota.com and with the LandPride GS1572 Grading Scraper, the best price I've received is $27,004 plus tax, making it roughly $29,000 total.

Or, do I buy a used 2004 L4630 with the LA854 bucket, no HST+, but does have HST, but it also has 3 Rear remotes and a hydraulic box blade included for around $22K with 650'ish hours on it?

I like the idea of the bigger 4630, especially with the rear hydraulics, but it's also going on 8 years old too. The box blade, although sweet with all the on the fly adjustment, from what I can tell I'd probably still buy a grading scraper to do the majority of the road maintenance we have.

Not to throw another wrench in all this, but tomorrow I'm going to set a L3800 next to the L3540, both equipped with the standard buckets, drive them both, compares apples to apples, check the 3 point hitch operation on the L3800 to see if it's jerky, and try to make sure I'm not getting caught up with getting too much tractor, both size wise and/or price/feature wise too.

Anybody have any thoughts on any of this? :) I really appreciate everyone's help to say the least. This has been extremely eye opening and informational, to say the least.

Only you can decide now... you have the information that you need to buy the right one for YOU. Just wanted to say that 700 hours is not many hours for 8 years. Don't forget to let us know what you get :D

Yeah, does that deal on the used 4630 seem like a good deal, great deal, or okay deal? Is there somewhere that you can price used tractors like NADA or KBB for cars to get a rough idea, by chance?

Need to see it... is it clean and looks like it's taken care of? You can look at Tractorhouse.com to see what others LIST for (not sell for). Sounds good from here tho... ;)

The bigger loader on the 4630 would be a real asset plus the extra HP. I would consider it or strongly consider the larger L**40 with the heavier loader. Wheel weights and or 3pt weights are a must for any kind of loader work

When I bought my 2003 L5030 HSTC, last year, it had 735 hours and I don't consider that many hours at all. It was at the dealer where the guy bought it as he had it brought in to have it serviced and a new L57340 caught his eye.

A used tractor in really good condition is often pretty hard to find.

I really like my non HST+ 5030 and as I said previously can live without the HST+, I am very happy with it; spent the morning on it and will be on it again later this afternoon.

I didn't buy it because I couldn't afford a new one, it was just too good of a deal to pass up and thankfully so as we had to buy a new M8540 later that year.:(

As mentioned, only you can decide and it looks as though you are going about it pretty much like everyone else has. Trying the 3540 and 3800 together will tell you a lot and driving the 4630 will also.

Good luck and keep us informed.

Triple R, since you've purchased a L5030 recently, I'm curious if you think 3000 hours is too much for that tractor if it has been used for mowing? No front end loader on the machine. Oh, and it's a 2006 model. Any chance you would mind sharing what you paid for your 2003 with 735 hours on it? Do you know if it's even possible to get a Kubota Loader for it still?

Also, is there a normal amount or reasonable amount guys sell for versus what they list them for on these things?
