Tractor
Kubota L2501 4wd with quick attach, former Kubota L3800 HST 4WD stolen
I bought a L3800 HST 4WD with the quick attach FEL and quick attach bucket, pallet forks, box blade and rototiller about 2 weeks ago. Love the tractor. Easy to learn to use, very maneuverable, and very powerful. More tractor than I need right now, but after reading all the reviews here, it became obvious than many owners end up buying a larger tractor within 2 years. I will grow into it. The 3-point hitch is a little jerky, but less so if raised rapidly than if raised slowly. The HST whine is noticeable but does not really bother me. The HST is great for fine positioning. I took advantage of the Kubota 5 year financing with no money down and zero interest rate. By travelling 300 miles east to Amarillo, Texas I saved about $5,000 over what my local dealer in New Mexico wanted. Both dealers are great, but money is money. Many thanks to all the contributors to Tractorbynet that helped me make my purchase decision so much easier. I really am a rookie, but the experiences reported by other new owners on this website gave me the confidence to make the purchase. The learning curve has been quick and easy so far. Hope to acquire a post hole digger and brush hog in the future. So far I have torn out brush, moved and compacted brush piles, and excavated and moved about 5 to 8 yards of fill dirt for another project. Its great to accomplish what took a month by hand labor in 2 or 3 hours with the tractor.

Congratulations on your new L3800. If you get a chance, grab your camera and share a couple of photos with everyone. Sounds like you've got plenty of good uses for it.

Thanks to all for the congratulations. I'm getting braver as I get older. Used to be afraid of more debt, but at zero interest rates what do I have to lose? We may be headed on a path of hyperinflation within the near future, so repayment dollars will probably be very cheap. It appears that we could have a financial collapse at any time, as most countries can never hope to pay back their sovereign debt. And bond holders are finally losing faith in fiat currencies as a store of wealth. As Olivia Newton John used to say, "lets get physical" (productive land, equipment, commodities, etc.) We will become a banana republic - without the bananas. Having the ability to grow food in quantities sufficient to help feed your neighbors will become more important. Let's hope that does not happen, but we sure seem to be headed down that road. Hence, another justification for the new tractor, and the construction in progress on a 5.17 KW grid-tied and gound mounted solar photovoltaic system. I am doing the foundation for the solar panel array. That includes 26 - eight inch diameter concrete piers on 5-foot centers, minimum 3 feet below grade with 3 lengths of ½ inch rebar per cardboard sonatube, and an 85 foot trench 18 inches deep to the meter for the power cabling. The two rows of piers are "benched" with a 2-foot elevation difference (to eliminate shading), and are located on a slight hillside. Therefore I have moved a lot of dirt to get the grade right. I'm really looking forward to new projects. Probably weed control and xeroscaping on three rental houses to start. When I figure out how to post pictures I will do so.
