Rented an L35 for the weekend. Not sure how to get it in 4WD. Rental place is closed. Small yellow short shifter directly below steering wheel?

Help is appreciated--Thanks--Has been painted and alot of the info stickers are gone as is the manual.

My fault, I was at work and asked the rental guy to leave it in the front part of the property. He reccomended I be there to go over operation with him but I couldn't miss work and he couldn't deliver later.

Steve I am not sure on the L35 but on the L39 there will be two short levers. One is for 4wd and the other is for the PTO. I would suggest you put the loader against something solid, like a tree, and raise the front wheels off the ground. If the front wheels turn you have engaged 4wd. No need to be aggressive, just let the tractor try to move the tree, if the tires turn you are engaged.

On my L3940, diff lock is in front of seat on floor board, use right heel of foot. Engage when stopped. 4WD lever is in front of seat on floor board, left side, big knob, I normally push down with left heel of foot. Engage when stopped. Philip.

Steve,

I have an L35 and that is what turns on the PTO.

The lever for engaging/disengaging the 4 wheel drive is down below your seat and to your left, as you're looking down. It is engaged when the knob is almost touching the sheet metal and disengaged when the knob is out, towards front of tractor by a few inches.

Here are some photos:

Left: 4WD is Engaged
Middle: Disengaged
Right: PTO Lever

These pictures were taken from Step Side of tractor, looking back to rear of tractor.

Hope this helps

Ok! First thanks to everyone who replied. I see the lever on the left of the seat. The knob is gone but that is doing it:thumbsup: Thanks all. Yes I was activating the PTO which wasn't it. Fortunately I had a little back hoe work and I will do the bucket / brush work in the morning. Thanks to all the L35 owners for answering so quickly and yes the pics help too.

Thanks, you guys are great!:D

Steve,

You're most welcome.

That's what is so great about a site like this. The knowledge pool of all these members is IMMENSE!

Sometimes it might take a little time for the right person to come along that knows, but it seems like someone almost always knows or at least can give intelligent advice on what path to pursue.

Have fun, and stay safe.

I love my L35. It is a mighty, small "Wonder", in my opinion.

Yes, the help is much appreciated. I have been working on a hilside this morning and the 4X4 is the ticket for moving some rocks and brush. The L35 is working great. small enough to get into some tight areas and big enough to move some good size rocks.

Thanks again Big Wave D and the other L owners who helped me out to get this bad boy working right! I wish I could justify owning one of these critters, they are sure handy!

Steve
