No really , the tractor looks good , I get to demo it all day this weekend . The ONLY problem is , he said " The LIFT is JERKY " Can I live with this , or how much out of my pocket to fix it the right way ? I have not searched form yet to read about it . Any links or info on jerky lifts ?

Bottom line... there is no fix other than buying a Grand L

I guess I just need to drive it . I am going to grade about 2 miles of gravel driveways , then going to cut 3 acres of yard with my 6 ft grooming mower . So I should have alot of seat time before I buy it. I am really worried about the jerky lift , I thought it was fixed in newer models ? I LOVE the lift on my 3000 Ford . The owner said that it is jerky !! So you are saying ANY L series has a jerky lift ? I do not think I'll find a better deal , or cleaner tractor.

It is called 1/4" valving. It is the design of the lift system on the standard L series. The Grand L's have a different valve system that does not jerk like you describe. You can learn to live it with it IMO. I had the L2800 which is identical to the L3400 just less displacement. It is a small pain but would not be a deal breaker for me from what you are describing. Don't let it bother you. I went with the Grand L for other reasons. The lift was not an issue and it will work just fine.

Seriously, you need to jump all over that thing or someone else surely will.

The jerky 3-point is no more than an annoyance. We have two older tractor that have done that for years.

I believe it is a position control rather than quarter inching.

ok been driving it for 1 Hr 1/2 ....... WOW , Is it crazy to be in love with a tractor :laughing:. The dura grader works GREAT !! on my driveway ( good white rock ) on his driveway , it SUCKS ( hard pack , potholes , no gravel ) . I have not used ft bucket yet . tractor ONLY has 109 hrs before I got on it . He could not remember , he thought it had 159 !!! SWEET!! 109 hrs . Going back outside to do some more damage !! :cloud9:

If you can live with the 3PH you will really like the tractor. The 3PH is about the worst thing the L3400 has to offer. For that matter, I think it is the only bad thing it has to offer other than not tool box.

Run it where you have good power, if 2500 is it, then that where it needs to be.

I got in over 2 hrs grading driveways with the Dura Grader . It works great IF you have gravel !!! It sucks if you have nothing to work with . Tractor is new , 110 hrs , runs perfect . Going to play with the FEL loader this weekend . Thanks for the help ! L3400 is a great little rig ( except the Jerky )

I generally run mine about 2000 for loader work in L range, I only use M for transporting load when I need to cover some ground faster. But you may be using it on much flatter and more stable ground.

And LD1, does yours not really have a tool box? mine does. (2010 model)

I thought they all had a toolbox. It is not all that large, but It holds about all I want or need to put in it. a wrench, a bungie, a pair of pliers , rag, and a pair of mechanics gloves, and the PTO cover.

Nope, no toolbox except the one I added.

That was one of the complaints on the earlier L3400's. I knew I heard that the new L3700 and L3200/3800's had a toolbox, but I wasn't aware they started putting them on the later L3400's as well.

Mine is an 06 model BTW. Back when I was researching mine, the only three complaints were the lack of a toolbox, jerky 3PH, and the suction hose for the hyd pump would crack. But kubota fixed the hyd hose with a better material.
