Kubotaman68 - I ran the cylinders in and out a couple times with just the QA on the arms. The stops on the QA seemed to be the same as the stops on the bucket. I will look at it closer now that the bucket is on. Others on the board that have done this conversion have not mentioned a problem though quite often we do not extend the arm cylinder all the way.

Dstosh - The Kubota part number is L2230A. You can also look it up on the Aldermans site. It was $384 on that site when I saw it this fall, but my dealer said it is $399 now. It does seem like a bargain. It is listed with the L3130 prices.

Thanks!

hi. and so, with this setup, can you put on a curtis snow plow and adjustable pallet forks that are mounted on a "pallet fork frame"? also, how fast is the changeover from one implement to the next? thanks.

You can put anything with the universal skid steer bracket on the loader. Just remember this is not a high capacity tractor. I bought it thinking of it as a 25HP tractor in most specifications with an extra 10HP to run a larger mower. The pallet forks are quickly becoming my favorite tool. It takes longer to get off the tractor and flip the lock levers than it does to switch tools. At times I may not use the loader bucket for a month or longer. You can drop the bucket in the shed and stand it on an end in the corner. With the bucket off it is about as handy manuvering about as having the whole loader removed.

Oldgoat,
My dealer installed my QA when I bought the unit and he did mention saying they checked the stops all was correct. He didn't say there was any adjustment that was needed so I just figured from that it wouldn't be necessary to do any adjustments.

when you say to remember this is not a high capacity tractor, do you mean this QA setup causes the tractor to lose some of its capacity? i'm just curious what you meant by that statement. thanks again.

That is just my perception of the L3400 when compared to other 35HP tractors. It has less weight, less rated loader capacity, and less rated 3 point capacity than other 35HP tractors. The other tractors I am refering to include the Kubota L3430, the JD 3520, the Case IH DX35, the NH TC35DA, the Kioti DX35, etc . I am actually not even sure if the L3400 is in the same size class as these others but I am saying I do not expect the L3400 to be able to do the same work as the others except when powering PTO equipment. I do know it meets all my needs and is in a different price bracket than the others /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif. Hope this was not too long winded, but to answer your question, I do not think the QA changes the tractors capacity at all.

Kubotaman68 - I finally got around to checking the stops on the QA and the loader arms. They seem to be set correctly. I've attached a couple pictures for second opinions. The stop on the arm is the flat piece welded under the arm. Thanks for bringing that up because it is something we would not want to miss.

This one shows the bucket tilted up a little for comparison.

This might be handy when thinking about QA on a tractor. The L3400 has a lift capacity of 1142 lbs at the FEL pivot. Four inches forward of that the loader still has a load capacity of 1142 at the pivot, however we are longer lifting at the pivot. So this turns into see-saw 101. 1142 times the distance to the center of lift say 5 ft or 60 inches equals 68520 in lbs. 68520 divided by 64 inches (loader plus quick attach) equals 1070 lbs. minus the weight of the QA. The force and point of application of the cylinder forces remains the same throughout this exercise.
If the back of the tractor came off the ground, then the same type of calculation is used to figure how much additional counter weight you need.
A picture of the bota QA is attached for comparison.

I doubt that the L3400 could lift its rated capacity without adding balast to the rear. If you are driving down a hill, much more balast would be required even within rated capacity. Here is one way to add balast.
