The arm rests are no big deal to me at all, just wanted them if I was to have them, that's all.

The dif lock still has me confused even though many of you gave great explainations of it. Question: After it is engaged does it stay engaged or do I need to keep pushing it down with my foot? Sorry I can't try it out myself until the weekend. My tractor is kept at my camp 100 miles away.

Since I didn't get the owners manuel yet I have (I hope) just one more question. How do I start it cold? Do I need to turn on the key and wait for a light to go out indicating that the glow plugs are hot and ready to fire up? I did that and waited but no lights went out. Sorry I'm confused as to how to properly start it when cold. If I had the manuel I would not be so in the dark.

It will disengage itself, usually as soon as you let off the throttle.

You're right Harv. I'm sure I would manage to get into a jam, even with 4wd. Most of my property is flat and I do most of my tractoring in the summer when it is good and dry. I tend to forget what its like to have problems with traction.

I feel for ya, having a tractor and no manual. I've attached here a couple of snippets from my L2500DT manual which might help. I'm pretty sure the diff lock is the same, but I'm not sure if you have the same glow plug indicator thingy. On mine, I was told by the dealer to hold my thumb over the thing until it started feeling hot. Also said that here in Californy, I could usually skip the glow plug warming step and just crank 'er up. The coldest I ever started it was on a 20-degree F morning. As an experiment, I gave it a try without warming and it fired right up.
