Hello everyone
I am both new to this forum and also new to the beautiful life of "small farm" living.I recently bought a Kubota L2800 HST and would like to know which mower would be appropriate for this tractor. I have both dealers near by. Kioti selling the Bush Hog and Kubota selling their brand. My Kubota dealer said he didn't have any 5 foot mowers but would let me have a 6 foot at the same price. Is this oversized for the HP on the L2800. Thanks in advance

I believe a 6' rotary/flail mower may be too large for a 2800. I bought my 2800 in April and have about 30 hrs on it. When I use my Modern 5' Competitorr (I think that is how they spell it) the mower will fairly easily stall on larger (3') brush. I think a 6' mower might more often overwhelm the tractor. For normal, tall grass and weeds, the 5' works great.

The larger B series tractors like the B7800 or B3030 handle a 6 foot finish mower, although they'll only run a 5 foot rotary cutter(bush hog).I'd say the L2800 would be similar, plus with HST,you can slow down when needed.

I run a 6 foot woods finish mower on my L3400. I mow fairly high grass (about 8 to 10 inches) and it has no problem. I'm sure the 2800 would be fine there too.

I did make a weight bracket and added 240 lbs on the front. The front was too light and sometimes skidded a bit when turning.

I also have a 5 foot bush hog and that has no problem either. I think the biggest problen with a 6 foot bush hog would be weight. If you get in real heavy stuff then power would also be an issue.

I had a 6' bushog on my L2800 without any problem other than weight which has been mentioned. I also have used a 6' finish mower without problem other than the front end being a bit light. A front weight and slower speed will allow you to use the 6' mower if that is what you want.

If you get into thick heavy stuff your L2800 will not have enough power for a 6 foot rotary mover, the 5 footer works fine.

I agree; I have a five footer for my L2800 and would not want any larger in the heavy stuff.
