Mowing L2250... what size brush hog

I had dinner with my Toro buddy last nite. We discussed that very issue, essentially mowing with a trailer. We both agreed that would be a pain to mow with. He also agreed on the extra load created by the blades on the finish mower. The mowing I plan to do is not what that finish mower was intended for. I'm leaning hard toward a 5 footer brush. It sounds like my tractor will have it's hands full with that, much less a larger one. I realize I don't have to mow as aggressively and can take partial/slow passes. No, it doesn't quite cover my wheel width, but again, I'm not finish mowing with it. That's what the ZT is for. It seems like the 5 is the best compromise of all factors involved.

bjorn: sounds like a sound plan. always best to wrestle around with the ideas 1st with others, rather than take a hit in trading back new equipment to get the right one for your needs. think you're on the right track. & for hill work, you might even put some ballast in your fel bucket for safety, but may not be necessary. are your rear tires loaded? best of luck

I ended up buying a Woods M5 Dixie Cutter 5 foot brush mower last week. I used it briefly this morning and it seems to work great. I'm trying to find a manual for it online, but not having much luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction.
