L2250 has no electrical power

The alternator wires were shorted out (by accident) and now there is no power to anything on the tractor. The battery has voltage and all fuses are good. The tractor will start if you jump the starter. Any idea what it can be? Maybe voltage regulator?

Have the alternator tested -it may be shorted out

Strangley I happen to own that exact model. I presume you mean the positive terminal on the alt had somthing metal go between it and the frame, like a wrench maybe. As leonz stated have the alt tested I think the regulator maybe in in the alt. But that should not stop the tractor from starting.
Remove the wires to the alt and tape them off as to make them safe
See if the tractor will start
Check to see if there is 12 volts at the fuse strip with the key off
Check to see if there is 12 volts at the fuse strip with the key in start/ and or run.
Listen to here if the fuel solenoid drops out when the key is turned off
Check the battery with an other , easy way unwire the existing and put a know good one on the ground and with CARE use booster cables put the negative to the frame last.
Check the existing battery depending on the above results.
You may a cooked the key operated switch.

New user - my first post!

I believe Craig gave the correct tip - check power to the fuse box. I have a L2650 and it has an inline fuse in the wire that feeds the fuse box.
To see if the voltage reg is cooked with the engine running you should have ~14v at the battery

I had a 2250. It has a fusable link, it might have blown. no electricity at all if that goes, IIRC.

I also have an L2250. Couple years back I experienced the same problem and replaced the regulator. The fuseable link blew, and once replaced....problem solved. Not sure if this will be the case with yours...but check that fuseable link. Good luck.
