L Vent pipe plug

Have a 31 ton MTD log splitter. Changed hydraulic fluid and filter. Noticed after a while, a stream of fluid would squirt out the L vent plug. Is mine defective or is that natural if the fluid is too high? I filled reservoir to with in an 1 to 11/2 from top. Thanks! Jeff Greene

My guess is that you have over filled the tank and as the oil warms up, it expands resulting in the stream out of the vent.
