Ok guys have a chance to pickup this gem about 5 miles from my house. Only talked to the guy on the phone for bout 3 minutes going to go get some more info but say ye? Missing the front coulter but moldboards seem barely broke in, felling them from topto bottom no chamfer or wear on the edge!

It says Kverneland NR on it. What's it worth? Think it's a 14" I didn't have a tape just going by my arm haha!! Will my 45hp new holland 4wd pull it in NY soil???

Around $500 would be a bargain, If the frame is not sprung or bent? Ken Sweet

Sorry about the grammer in the 1st post, was posting from my tree stand! Anyway, the 5 mins I looked at it, everything looked straight and square. He wants 500 for it and seems to be in excellent shape just a little weathered from sitting outside.

I am new to farming so I guess I'm a little lost on the 2 wheels on the back! One is a regular tire, the other is a hard steel wheel which I would assume is like a depth setting wheel?

But for 500 seems to me a good deal considering everything I've read about them is they are about the best, plus it is a auto reset trip plow. Everything else around me is either beat up junk or Ford 101's for 600ish!!

I sold the last 3 bottom auto reset plow I had for $1500. Granted it was newer than this one. The steel wheel is the furrow wheel and the rubber looks to be an adjustable depth control wheel. If you buy it, I may have a front coulter that would work? It would have to be 1 1/2 inch diameter shank. I am out of the used 1 3/8 shank coulters for a while. Ken Sweet

The round frame means its a hydrein which means the parts are obsolete. Some pieces are no longer sold, even in europe where they are extremely popular. But for a little bit of plowing, you aren't gonna wear out more than the points which I think are still available.

Hydrein? I typed it in google, and seems to be an older design? Or just a different manufacturer or frame? Then Kverneland put their components on them?

And by parts, you mean moldboards or what? Other than the boards, points etc, I have the ability/machinery to make just about any part that would bend/break/need replaced.

If it were close to me, I would have already bought it to resell. Ken Sweet

Im from Lockport just down the road from you. If you dont want that plow please let me know where its at. Thats just what i have been looking for.

I have almost the same exact plow. Mine says Kverneland on it. Heck it still has a pretty little picture of a Fininnish farm on the back of the shares. The only difference is mine doesnt' have the tail wheel.
Mine is a plowing machine. It really flips sod well. NH soil is bonier than NY (depending on where you are) and mine resets well. I picked mine up in Ontario for 500. Which was a deal considering what the modern 3 btms go for.
I'm still kicking myself for not buying a Fiskars plow that was the exact same thing but with 16in bottoms at an auction for 100 this fall.

Dill, how big of tractor are you using? Im hoping my 45 horse will pull it through 10 year old untouched hay fields!

Gregsons, if I don't pick it up I will let you know however I am pretty sure once I get paid next wk it is going home with me!

This spring it was on a Deere 2440 (65hp) in 3rd and 4th gear. Last year I plowed with a Zetor 7745(75hp) in 4th. 45 is going to be tight, but the 14in bottoms will help. We used to pull an IH 450 3btm with 16" shares with the 2440. Oddly enough that plow wont fit on all our tractors. Some the of the 3pth arms are too short. You also have to pull the drawbar off. The handle sticking up adjusts the cut. Fwd is more aggressive. It will reset easier as you set it back.

I picked up a used MF 2 bottom plow earlier this year, needed a bit of work. It's a 12" bottom, pulling it with a 35 horse 4wd is a piece of cake. You might be on the edge of having enough weight and traction, I doubt HP will be a factor. Mine is a tight fit on the back of the Kubota, same problem Dill had. The front coulter is pretty close, but it has just enough clearance.

My fields haven't been touched in over 20 years, the only sand we have is at the beach, everything else is clay.

I don't know about the price... I paid a lot less than $500 for mine, but I may have got a really good deal too. Not sure how the Kverneland compares with the MF, but I've heard they ARE good plows.

If you have to buy a coulter assembly, factor that into the cost and see if it still makes sense. There are a lot of old plows around here, not many are for sale though.

Make sure you can still get points, most other bits can be fabbed if you have to.

I live in Massena , NY and have just bought 2 of these plows. One needs 3 coulter. Both are 3 bottom auto reset. I talked to a dealer in Canada got a history lession on them. Most parts you canot get, but you can modify new Keverland parts to work. These plows are the Best on the market, but have a high price. Best design, cheap to maintain if you take care of them. Require less HP tractor per number of plows. One is a Hydein other MD. The plan is fix one and sell the other.
