Why don't you change yours weekly if your not cheap and want yours fresh?

geez john, maybe a little hard on this poster. having said that, i would venture to say that Kubota sells roughly 80% of their products to the private non commercial sector, & all of us, rather advanced @ our stage & using kubotas for personal use, have our seasoned opinions myself included. scheduled maintenance is further complicated with the carbon footprint as seen in tier 4 & all the environmental restrictions, etc so we all have to take this into account when looking at oil etc changes as recommended by the manufacturer. personally, i always lean to the fluid/filter change more often than recommended...those of us in this forum might better look for direction in that respect to commercial/industrial market use of said machines. how one does that is a matter of on line research. best regards

In general, I think changing engine oil and transmission oil are two different animals. Engine oil more often the better... more frequent than the recommendation could be beneficial. Transmission oil though... a waste of time/money/environment to change more than per the schedule. My :2cents:

dragoneggs i would agree w/you on that being combustion is involved with engine oil & with probably greater temp variation. at the same time, i would personally shy away from just visual checks on hyd fluid as being "clean & clear" on the dipstick. condensation & sediment wear are out of view. good point though.

I have a kubota B2650 hydrostatic transmission It takes the kubota UDT transmission oil .Has anyone ever added any extream press additives like Pt-100 to this oil roughly 2%. I have seen their testing machine where a brg. would lock up with the UDT oil at 3lbs, Then they would add Pt-100 to this same brg. and apply over 20 lbs and it wouldnt lock up.

fraserfil i personally would stay away from any additives. given the quality of lubricants today, their additive package should be fine. maybe consider SUDT next change in your hst if you are concerned. the manufacturer would have already added any break through technology claimed by the snake oil boys. if you're really interested in the product, maybe post it in fuel & lubricants. regards

I concur with big bubba on not using additives. Up until my retirement last year I was heavily involved in the heavy duty diesel engine industry. Today's brand name engine and transmission oils are so good that lubricity related failures are almost nonexistent. I cannot recall a single major trucking fleet owner that did not use a premium non-synthetic or blend in the engine, while using pure synthetic's exclusively in xmsn's and diff's. Average engine oil changes on over the road trucks were around 30-40k while recreational user's engines (large RV's) were mostly every year as they seldom exceeded 10K miles per year and most engine makers have an annual limit.

FWIW When I have my oil changed at the local quicky-lube I remove the 3000 mile oil change sticker they put inside the windshield, and replace it with my owner's manual mileage recommendation, in my case 7500. On my Kubota 4240 I try to stay within the owners manuals specifications and use non-synthetic Rotella or Delo in the engine, and SUDT (SUDT2 next time) for the hydraulics. Just my two cents and you get what you pay for

BTDT2......I fully agree with your pics of Rotella and Delo. Both have always tested out very good in my Caterpillars.

Curious as to why you use non-synthetic in your tractor? I just switched my B2620 to T5 synthetic blend on my last change at around 200 hours. Is there a reason you prefer the dino-oils?

My L45 has 200 hour service intervals on the trans/hyd oil. Holds 12 gals, about 300 bucks for super UDT2. While I do not not mind buying manufacturer branded oils, I will stick to the service interval recommended by the manufacturer,
